Women of Boti [1]

Boti village is a remote village located in the middle of the mountains Sub Kie, South Central Timor (TTS), Province of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Journey to boti can to within about four hours from Kupang, the capital of East Nusa Tenggara Province, or two hours of So’e, the capital of South Central Timor.  Boti tribes are the descendants of the indigenous island of Timor, Atoni Metu and they are populated by more than 400 people.

Boti is a rare place in the world that has formally rejected change, practicing and animist religion based on worshipping nature every nine days and adhering to ancient traditions in farming, weaving and protecting the natural environment.
